Parul was introduced to the world of Kathak at the tender age of six, under the able tutelage of Late Pt. Kemchand Prakash (disciple of late Pt Sunder Prashad Ji) of Jaipur Gharana.
Countless grueling practice sessions and her enthusiasm led her to perform on stage soon. Since the beginning her command over both, the technique and abinaya were appreciated by the audience.
Her talent, grit and perseverance to excel in the field of Kathak earned her numerous accloads and awards very early in life. A national scholarship from C.C.R.T., Financial Assistance from Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur, Yuva Puraskaar from Rajasthan Sangeet Natak academy, solo performances in Jawahar Kala Kendra,Kal Ke Kalakaar, UGC films Kathak 1& 2, and many more.
Selection in NRITYAGRAM (a dance gurukul set up by late Protima Gouri near Bangalore) was a turning point in her life. There she learnt under Padma Bhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, and eventually followed her to her institution KADAMB in Ahmedabad. During her years with Kumudini ji, she learnt nuances of choreography and fineness of movement. Her perspective broadened as she came in contact with many international artists and participated in various workshops and shows with the KADAMB repertory.
Her desire for perfection helped her deepen the understanding of the form, space, expressions and technique. This paved the way for her natural transition from being a danseuse to a Guru.
